The foundations of Achyronthia go back to 1999. At the end of that year we finally established a complete line-up. Hailing from Ostend in Belgium, Our journey began….
A six track demo “The Fountain of Youth” was recorded in 2002, eventually two songs ended up on the “Latent Talent” compilation in 2003.
In 2005 young and fresh blood reinforced our ranks. Jokke Ponette introduced a uniquely balanced mix of screams, grunts and clean vocals into the band.
We recorded our first full-length “The Final Crossing” at Midas Studios in Lokeren, Belgium. The self-supported album, released in January 2006, yielded us several great opportunities. The band played gigs in support of Sodom (Ger), The Lucifer’s Principle (NL), After All (B), Killer (B), Spoil Engine (B) and Peter Pan Speedrock (NL).
In Autumn 2006, an important line-up change was forced upon us. Soon enough our paths crossed with a new, talented guitar player. Nicolas Brackx joined our band in July 2007. One month later, we hit the stage again with a dazzeling performance at the Velorock Festival, headlined by Sodom.
The highlight of our performance history was the trip to the legendary Wacken Open Air Festival. 31st of July 2008 Achyronthia represented Belgium on the W.E.T. stage for the Wacken Metal Battle.The festival was attended by Iron Maiden (UK), Nightwish (Fin), Gorgoroth (N), Exodus (USA), Kreator (Ger), Carcass (UK) and many, many more.
Back at the front in Belgium we concentrated on songs for the new album. As with songwriting, we wanted to raise the bar on all levels so we decided to record at CCR Studios in Zulte (Aborted, Leng Tch’e, In-Quest, Crimson Falls, Rise and Fall…). Recordings started in March 2009 and continued during the summer of 2009. The album was mixed and mastered by Kris Belaen at CCR. The artwork will be provided by Seth Siro Anton (Exodus, Paradise Lost, Moonspell, Sanctity, Soilwork...)
Achyronthia delivers modern and ruthless thrash metal combined with the sheer power and melody of traditional metal.
Soon “Echoes of Brutality”, our second sonic assault, will be released upon the world...
